When learning SEO from scratch, the aim is to bring traffic to a website and also provide valuable content to users. SEO is a long-term process that needs patience, consistency, and ongoing learning.
As a beginner, learning SEO one step at a time helps build a strong foundation. Later on, you can use this foundation for blogs, business websites, or client projects.
Why I Started My SEO Learning Journey
I started learning SEO because I wanted to know how websites can grow on Google without paid ads. While paid ads can give quick results, SEO helps websites become more visible and trustworthy over time.
Learning SEO from the beginning gives me control over how my website performs, so I don’t have to rely on others. Another important reason is that it helps me develop a useful skill for freelancing, blogging, or running an online business.
My goal is to learn SEO correctly, using the best methods from the start.
Day 1—Setting Up My Website
On Day 1 of my SEO learning journey, my main focus was on setting up my website. I bought a domain and hosting, installed WordPress, and chose a simple theme.
I made sure my website was simple to navigate and user-friendly. I also set up basic settings like the permalink structure, site title, and tagline.
Setting up a website correctly is crucial when learning SEO from scratch, as early technical mistakes can cause problems later on. Completing this step gave me the confidence to move on to on-page SEO.
Google Search Console Verification Process
One of the most important tasks on Day 1 was verifying my website with Google Search Console. Google Search Console helps website owners monitor website performance, indexing status, and search visibility.
I added my website to Search Console and verified ownership using the recommended method. After successful verification, I submitted my sitemap so that Google could easily crawl and index my pages.

Tools I Am Using to Learn SEO
To support my SEO learning journey, I am using a few essential SEO tools. Rank Math is my primary SEO plugin for on-page optimization, helping me optimize titles, meta descriptions, and content using focus keywords.
Google Search Console is used to monitor indexing status and overall search performance, while Google Analytics helps me understand user behavior and traffic patterns on my website.
These tools simplify the process of learning SEO from the beginning by offering clear insights, performance data, and actionable feedback for ongoing enhancement.
What Did I Learn on Day 1?
Day 1 taught me that SEO starts with a strong foundation. Website setup, basic settings, and Google Search Console verification are not optional—they are essential for long-term success.
I learned that SEO is not just about keywords; it is also about website structure, content clarity, and user experience. Even small steps, when done correctly from the beginning, can make a big difference over time.
Learning SEO from scratch requires discipline, consistency, and attention to detail, and Day 1 helped me clearly understand this reality.
What’s Next in My SEO Journey?
In the next phase of my SEO learning journey, I will focus on on-page SEO in more detail. This will include optimizing headings, images, internal linking, and overall content readability to improve both user experience and search visibility.
I will also begin proper keyword research and publish more SEO-friendly content based on search intent. Learning SEO from scratch is a continuous process, where each day builds on the previous one.
My goal is to consistently apply what I learn, monitor performance, and track improvements step by step.

In the next phase of my SEO learning journey, I will focus on on-page SEO. This involves optimizing titles, headings, images, internal linking, and content structure. On Day 2, I will improve the content to make it more useful for users and easier for search engines to understand.
